Sleep Under the Northern Lights

Sleep under the Northern Lights far in the north of Lapland, where nights unfold in deep stillness. Here, darkness is pure and the sky stretches wide above the fells. When the sky is clear, the aurora often appears with soft green and pink waves rippling across the horizon.

Why Here? Why This Far North?

This is one of the most remote inhabited areas in Europe, close to vast official wilderness areas that are rarely seen by tourists. Here, silence is real, darkness is deep, and the skies stretch endlessly above the fells.

Here in Hetta, Enontekiö, our far northern location near the Aurora Oval makes the conditions especially favourable for aurora viewing. Statistically, our region sees auroras on around 75% of clear nights from autumn to spring. The mountains to the west of us can sometimes hold back the clouds on the coast, leaving the inland skies here clearer.

There may be more accessible places to visit in Lapland. But if you’re looking for something truly genuine — untouched landscapes, small group experiences, and a quiet connection to Arctic nature and culture — you will find it here, beyond the usual routes.

“Not everyone gets here. And that is exactly why it is worth it.”

Two ways to stay

Choose Your Night Under the Aurora

Aurora cabin Lapland under the Northern Lights in Enontekiö.

Comfort & Wide Open Views

Lumikko Aurora Loft

In a small Arctic village, far from the rush of the world, you can find a cabin surrounded by windows on every side. From the upstairs loft, wide open views stretch in every direction, letting you catch the aurora no matter which way it appears. There is very little light pollution in the village, and once the streetlights switch off at 11 p.m., the darkness deepens even further.

Here you’ll find all the comforts of home: a kitchen, bathroom, shower and soft beds. The atmosphere is calm and unhurried with vast views. It is the perfect place for a longer stay to slow down

Fire & Wilderness

Arctic Nature Glamping

Find a secret hideout in the forest where silence is broken only by the crackle of fire. This is more than accommodation, it is a complete experience of Arctic stillness.

Inside the luxury tent you’ll lie beneath a skylight and a wide window that opens to the wilderness. The tent is insulated and warmed by a wood-burning stove whose steady glow you keep alive through the night. There are no other people around, only you, the snow and the slow rhythm of the fire. Outside, the darkness is absolute; when the clouds clear, the auroras often appear vividly above the trees.

You can create your own ideal combination. For example, stay three nights at Lumikko Aurora Loft, surrounded by comfort and views over small village life and the northern sky, and then one night in Arctic Nature Glamping to experience the wilderness up close with the warmth of fire and deep silence.

Add the activities that inspire you most. Join a snowmobile safari away from the beaten paths to the wilderness, enjoy a peaceful horse sleigh ride through the snowy forest with fireside tastings of local flavors, or spend a quiet moment ice fishing on a frozen lake.

Prefer it ready-made instead? We also offer a couple of complete getaway packages, combining both accommodations and selected experiences for the season.

“Wow! Amazing from start to finish!
Check in was super easy as were were collected from and dropped back to our hotel. Saija also fit these times around our hotel plans. The glamping pod was lovely and warm when we arrived with a fire on the go and we arrived to aurora’s in the sky which were stunning! Others in our hotel had missed this night due to cloud coverage so the location was perfect! It was close enough to Saija’s home for her to deliver delicious food to our door, but far enough out to feel secluded and see the beautiful sky. I highly reccomend the evening meal too, this definitely made our experience even more special. The food was so good, we only wish we had taken containers for all the extra. We made use of the snowshoes but not the sauna due to late arrival. If we find ourselves in Finland again, we will most definitely return. The bed was comfy, the views were stunning and we were cosy and warm and felt at home. Thank you so much for such a gorgeous experience.”
